Recently at our school we participated in a Kapa Haka festival.
This festival is for schools all around Gisborne, our school participates every second year.
It was so much fun and we had been practising for a very long time.
Some of the songs we sang in our bracket were Tu mai ra, Ti hei, Purea nei, E Minaka ana and He honore! I enjoyed this experience so much and wish I could do it again.
Here are some photos of us at our performance..
Here are all the front row girls that got to wear a special pui pui!
These are also the outfits that we performed in.

Here is us performing one of our songs on stage.

CCA ~ VOCAB

In class we are reading a book called Mrs Frisby & The Rats Of Nimh.
We are reading it for Chapter Chat. Chapter Chat is a New Zealand based company. Many classes around the whole country have signed up to read a certain book every term. Every class has to read a certain amount of pages every week. After we have read the amount of pages assigned to our class we have to answer questions about the story. We also do activities relating to the story. This week I chose to do the vocabulary activity. The vocabulary activity takes words out of the story and we have to find the definition of the words. There are 6 words in total. After you have done your activity you can post it on twitter where everyone that does Chapter Chat can see it. Here is my vocabulary activity!

Blog Post Review

In my class we have blogging buddies, my blogging buddy is Summer W.
Last week in class we did an activity in my classroom which was to review one of your blogging buddy's
blog posts. We also have a blog post rubric in my class that we have to follow. Our teachers gave us a
challenge to take one of our blogging buddies blog post and rate it using the blog post rubric.
We had to add up all their points and then compared them. I did my presentation on a google slide.
Here is my presentation..

Summer W got an 11 out of 15!!

Speech

At my school we are doing speeches. Speeches is when each student picks a persuasive topic and has
to write a 2 - 3 minute speech. We stand up in front of our class and present our main points in our speech.
Then your class does a vote for whose speech they liked the best. It is based on how clear you spoke,
how interesting it was, how much humor there was, etc; My speech topic for this year is Why Gisborne
should stop discharging sewage into poverty bay. Everyone in my class has to do a planning worksheet,
we used the hamburger model. If you don’t know what the hamburger model is, it is a planning worksheet
that helps you see your ideas more clearly. Here is my filled out hamburger planner.

Marakai Results!

Hi recently at my school we had a cooking competition called Marakai! Marakai means garden food. The reason it's called Marakai is because we have to use 5 ingredients from our own school garden. The ingredients we use were kale, bok choy, spinach, lemongrass, and spring onion.
I did a dish with one of my friends named Bella you can look at her blog too! Here is the link http://wbsisabellas.blogspot.com/
We made Chicken And Bok Choy Gyozas With A Lemongrass Infused Dipping Sauce And A Side Of Nori Miso Soup. Here is us making the dish.

We won the school competition and moved on to regionals! At regionals we cooked the same dish except there were a lot more people there. Here is our dish that we made!
We won two certificates! The first one was the best main dish and the second one was the most independent workers! We also won a $10 voucher for our school to bunnings! Here is us holding our prizes!
